It's official, Chase Daniel will start for Bears against Lions

It's Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving! As you start lathering a cold naked turkey with spices or stuffing it's insides with bread or whatever you do, it's worth wondering: which Thanksgiving dishes best represent Bears players, and vice versa? Well THANK GOD I am working today and can answer that question for you. Let's start with the obvious:

Turkey = Mitch Trubisky

Here's a no-brainer. QB1, like the Turkey, is the centerpiece of the meal. There's more variety than meets the eye with a Turkey; you can choose light/dark meat, a leg, the breast. It's a versatile bird, not unlike Trubisky, who is a versatile QB. Want him to run? Easy. A simple 3- or 5- step dropback? He can do that too.  Like the turkey, people are still on the fence when it comes to Trubisky. Maybe they haven't convinced everyone yet, but Trubisky and The Turkey have their passionate supporters, and it just wouldn't be complete without them.

Cranberry Sauce = Tarik Cohen

Like cranberrry sauce, Cohen doesn't need much prep. Just plop him out on the plate and watch him work. He's quick, he's slippery, and if you love him, you love him. Tarik Cohen is cranberry sauce.

Stuffing = Akiem Hicks

The obvious connection here is that Hicks stuffs up the line of scrimmage. People might talk more frequently about fancier, trendier sides, but at the end of the day, you really can't do better than stuffing. Hick isn't the flashiest name on the Bears defense, but the meal wouldn't feel complete without him on the plate field.

Taylor Gabriel = Mashed Potatoes

Is there any side you go to more frequently during the meal than mashed potatoes? 1 fork of Turkey, 1 fork of mashed portatoes. 1 fork of greens, 1 fork of mashed potatoes. They're the slot reciever of Thanksgiving. Are you going to blow the top of a defense with your mashed potatoes? No, probably not. But you can't put together a 9-play, 85 yard drive to put the game away in the 4th without them, either. When the Bears need a big 1st down, or need to move the ball, Gabriel's always there in the slot.

Greens = Bears' secondary

Everyone rides with different greens. Whether it's asparagus, collard greens, brussel sprouts (I hope it's not brussel sprouts), or a salad, there's always SOMETHING green on your plate, hiding somewhere. They're opportunistic. You may not notice them first, but when you do, WOAH boy do you. Like the Bears' secondary, greens lay waiting, ready for their moment. Then, when it's time, you realize that huh, greens are actually really good. Greens should probably send 2-3 of their members to the Pro Bowl.

Pie = Khalil Mack

The big hoss that brings it all together. Thanksgiving dinner is just Fancy Dinner without pie. It's the last thing the meal needs to thrive, and it brings it all together. Khalil Mack was a late-in-the-meal addition, but it's hard to imagine the meal without him now. You might say that Aaron Donald cobbler is a better dessert, but you are wrong, it is pie. Pie is the best dessert in the NFL.
