14 stats that explain the Bengals' win over the Ravens on 'Thursday Night Football'

The Bengals have secured first place in the AFC North for at least a week after their 34-23 win over the Ravens on ‘Thursday Night Football’. The Bengals actually won back-to-back games by a score of 34-23 and are the NFL’s only 2-0 team... for now.

Here are just a few stats that tell the tale of the Bengals’ win over their AFC North foes in Week 2.

34: The number of points the Bengals scored in each of the last two weeks. Per ESPN Stats & Info, the last team to score 34 or more points in the first two weeks of the season was the 2013 Broncos team that went to the Super Bowl.

141: Yards for the Bengals in the first quarter, while the Ravens had just 27. The Bengals also had nine first downs to just one for the Ravens.

45: Yards on a second quarter Joe Flacco pass that gave the Ravens some life and led to a 1-yard rushing touchdown for Buck Allen. The Ravens had been trailing 21-0 at the time.

28: Thursday was the first time since 2013 that the Bengals scored 28 points in the first half of a game. The last time they did it was a 42-14 win against the Vikings five years ago.

4: Andy Dalton touchdown throws in the first half of the game.

3: The number of those touchdowns that were scored by A.J. Green.

28-14: The halftime score after the Bengals let the Ravens get back in the game due to a handful of penalties. The Bengals had six penalties, costing them 62 yards while the Ravens had five penalties costing them 31 yards in the first half.

100%: Both teams scored touchdowns in all of their first-half trips to the red zone (twice for the Ravens and three times for the Bengals).

42: Total first-half points, making it the highest-scoring first half of a ’Thursday Night Football’ game since ‘Thursday Night Football’ started in 2006, per Scott Hanson.

107.7: Andy Dalton’s passer rating, in a surprisingly good performance for the quarterback who is notoriously bad in primetime games.

87: Total yardage for Joe Mixon who left the game twice with knee injuries but returned and still made a major impact.

3: Number of turnovers for the Bengals’ defense. The Ravens’ defense had zero.

91: Receiving yards from Tyler Boyd in both the Bengals’ win over the Ravens on Thursday night and the Bengals’ Week 17 win over the Ravens last season. He also had one touchdown in both games. Those two games are Boyd’s statistical best since entering the league in 2016.

2-0: The Bengals’ record heading into Week 3.
