The Miami Dolphins are planning on releasing defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh as soon as Monday, according to an ESPN report.
Could his next stop be with the Eagles?
The Eagles are already deep at defensive line, but there is already some speculation he might be eyeing the Eagles, as Robert Klemko of Sports Illustrated had this to report during Super Bowl week:
When the team practiced against Miami, Dolphis players took note of how fast Eagles players moved from drill to drill. Lee recalls Ndamukong Suh being so impressed with the team that he approached defensive line coach Chris Wilson with an offer: "Suh told our defensive line coach, 'The way y'all practice is unbelievable. I don't care about money at this point--I think I want to play with y'all next year for free,'" Lee says. "Our coach was like, 'Uhh, can we get that in writing?'" (Suh, through a Dolphins spokesman, denies the incident.)
Whether the Eagles would want to bring in Suh remains to be seen, as they already have two starting defensive tackles in Fletcher Cox and Timmy Jernigan, two players that will count for roughly $24 million in cap hits next season. Those cap hits will combine to be $35 million in 2019.
It is possible Suh, who got $60 million guaranteed from the Dolphins, could decide to sign with the team that gives him the best chance to succeed as opposed to be most money. The Eagles would certainly be a good landing spot for Suh, as he could move all over the line and see plenty of playing time, as the Eagles shuffle their defensive linemen in-and-out all throughout the game.
Signing with the Eagles would also give Suh a chance to compete for a Super Bowl, something he has never had in his eight-year career.
If Suh is willing to take a cheap deal, it is certainly possible he lands on the Eagles.
