Eagles' Michael Bennett indicted in injury to elderly incident at Houston Super Bowl

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end and former Texas A&M and Alief Tayler High School star Michael Bennett was indicted by a Harris County grand jury Friday on a felony charge of injury of the elderly for an incident at the 2017 Super Bowl at Houston's NRG Stadium.

Bennett was at Super Bowl LI watching his brother Martellus Bennett play in the game for the Patriots.

After the Patriots completed their comeback and beat the Falcons in overtime, Michael Bennett, who played for the Seahawks at the time, allegedly pushed his way onto the field to celebrate with his brother and the Patriots. In the process, he is accused of injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic woman on the NRG Stadium security team.

The indictment states that Michael Bennett was told he had to use a different entrance for field access, but ignored security and pushed his way through them instead.

The charge, injury to the elderly, includes intentionally and knowingly causing bodily injury to a person 65 years or older. It carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

As a result of the indictment, a warrant has been issued for Michael Bennett's arrest. Prosecutors are working with his counsel regarding his surrender.
