The Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament kicks off in New York City tonight.
And while large portions of the largely Midwestern fan bases make their way to the East Coast mecca that is NYC, several of the tournament's most important participants have already gotten lost in the Big Apple.
In a humorous photo posted by the Big Ten Network and captioned "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York," a slew of the conference's, mostly-Midwestern mascots are seen taking in the sights and sounds of the big city in a busy crosswalk while a yellow cab tries to make a turn.

Among the tourists are Michigan State's Sparty, Penn State's Nittany Lion, Northwestern's Willie the Wildcat, Minnesota's Goldy Gopher, Rutger's Scarlet Knight, Purdue Pete, Nebraska's Herbie Husker, Maryland's Testudo and Iowa's Herky the Hawk.
The photo, while funny, is also a nod to the fact that despite the Big Ten being a conference made up largely of teams based in the Midwest, it is playing its conference tournament in NYC a week earlier than normal.
Further symbolism can be found in the fact that Kevin McAllister, Macaulay Culkin's character in the classic 1992 film, is from Chicago, one of the traditional locations for the tournament along with Indianapolis.
In the film, Culkin boards the wrong flight in the Windy City and gets lost in New York.
Some of the mascots may be asking themselves if they did the same thing. However, they did manage to make their way to the Empire State Building.

Big Ten's Jim Delany says condensed basketball schedule 'wasn't good,' won't happen again
The Big Ten's decision to stage the tournament at Madison Square Garden has been met with mixed reaction from fans of all 14 teams.
Some have rejected the idea because they say it doesn't represent the conference while others point to this season's condensed conference schedule that Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said "wasn't good" and "wasn't healthy."
"I appreciate the sacrifices the teams made, the impact it had on our students," Delany told the Chicago Tribune last week. "Wasn't good. Wasn't healthy. I thought starting (conference play) early was OK, but if you look at our schedules (in the past), we've been able to give everybody two-day prep (before games) in 99 percent of the cases.
"We won't do it again this way, and I take responsibility for asking the coaches. ... If we can make it back to the Garden on a regular week, that's great."
The Big Ten Tournament begins with the bottom four teams in action. Illinois and Iowa will kick things off at 5:30 p.m. That game will be followed by Rutgers and Minnesota. Both games will air on the Big Ten Network.
This could not be a more accurate description, although I don't think it was on purpose. The #B1G is completely lost in New York. And like Kevin McCallister, belongs back in the midwest where its from. https://t.co/5Id8c6l9Th

Spot-on take of a B1G commissioner with an identity crisis, in denial of what his league is and what makes it great: a MIDWEST conference with dedicated fanbases who will gladly travel to arenas in Chicago, Indianapolis, or Detroit. Why pretend otherwise? https://t.co/wVDkZhqUA5
