Midway through rookie quarterback Josh Rosen’s first season with the Arizona Cardinals and five starts into his young career, Rosen has given fans in the Valley a glimpse of what the future might be in Glendale.
For Doug & Wolf on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station, that was a large enough sample to ask fans and analysts to declare whether or not the 21-year-old signal caller has what it takes to be the long-term franchise quarterback.
Yay or nay were the options to choose from, here were some of the answers they received on Declaration Day:
Ron Wolfley, co-host of The Doug & Wolf Show (Yay)
“I have declared after six games that Josh Rosen will be the franchise quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals.”
Doug Franz, co-host of The Doug & Wolf Show (Nay)
“Heck no I’m not going to declare, it’s been six games. Win a playoff game and then we’ll talk, but he does look pretty good.”
Paul Calvisi, analyst (Yay)
“If you believe the best indicator of the future is the past, then Josh Rosen is the future franchise quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals.”
Bruce Arians, former Arizona Cardinals head coach (Yay)
“Yes, there’s no doubt Josh Rosen will be the quarterback of the future, and a very, very good one.”
Rudy Carpenter, quarterback guru/analyst (Yay)
“Josh Rosen is definitely a franchise quarterback, but he will only be as good as his supporting cast.”
Jake Plummer, former Arizona Cardinals quarterback/analyst (Yay)
“He’s one piece of the puzzle, but he’s a nice centerpiece to build around.”
John Clayton, analyst (Nay)
“Josh Rosen is going to be a good quarterback. I don’t know about a franchise quarterback, but I declare he’s going to be a good quarterback.”
