Brett Favre.

He’s the only other quarterback in NFL history capable of making the throw Patrick Mahomes made to give his Chiefs a 21-7 lead over the 49ers. I mean, this is straight out of a video game…

Another angle…

That shouldn’t be possible. That’s a 30-yard throw between two defenders. On a rope! Any other quarterback tries to make that throw and it either sails out of the back of the end zone or one of those two defenders steps in front and picks it off.

Russell Wilson can buy time like that but doesn’t have the arm strength to get a ball through that window. Cam Newton might have the arm to do it but doesn’t have the accuracy. Aaron Rodgers might be able to pull that off, but he’s not going to take a chance like that in the red zone.

Arm. Accuracy. Aggressive mentality. Mahomes is special.

And when the quarterback can make throws like that, and the No. 1 receiver has 4.2 speed, and the tight end is doing this…

…do NFL defenses even stand a chance? It doesn’t look like it so far.

Mahomes threw his 13th touchdown of the season later in the second half. That’s an NFL record for the first three games of a season. He’s also hit nine different receivers for scores. The NFL record is 13 … for an entire season.
