Many people believe the secret to success can be a good night's sleep.

For Klay Thompson, it doesn't matter when he gets his rest—just as long as he gets it.

On Dec. 5, 2016, the Golden State Warriors star set a career-high by going off for 60 points on 21-of-33 shooting against the Indiana Pacers. He could have easily had more...if he had played the fourth quarter.

Thompson only played 29 minutes that game, but it wasn't due to fatigue. He entered the game well-rested, as Golden State teammate Kevin Durant recently revealed on The Bill Simmons Podcast (h/t ESPN.com):

"Oh, so like the [day] before he had 60, Klay just missed practice. He didn't come. He just ... nobody like, you know when practice starts, it was like, 'Where the hell is Klay?' We called him, called him, called him. He didn't come to practice. He just like, just didn't come. And the next night he had 60."

"Don't know what happened. I think he said, like, 'Man, I was an hour late, two hours late. I was like, I might as well just stay in bed.' And he came out and had 60. I was like, this guy, if everybody in the world was like Klay the universe would be better."

Hey, whatever works.

Thompson's huge night led the Warriors to a 142-106 blowout win, with the margin of victory the only thing that kept him from lighting up the scoreboard in the fourth quarter.
