Tom Coughlin steals Giants' top free-agent target

Call it Tom Coughlin’s revenge.

The Giants lost one of their top targets in free agency on Tuesday morning when offensive lineman Andrew Norwell agreed to sign a five-year, $66.5 million deal with the Jaguars, ESPN.com reported.

Norwell was the top lineman on the market and the $13.3 million per season is the highest annual salary ever given at the guard position.

The Giants had significant interest in Norwell as the first step to rebuild their awful offensive line. Norwell played in Carolina when Giants GM Dave Gettleman was part of Panthers front office.

Coughlin, the former Giants coach, is now the president of football operations for the Jaguars.
