Tom Wilson leaves game after late, blindside hit by Ryan Reaves - Russian Machine Never Breaks

Ryan Reaves and Tom Wilson both left Tuesday’s game after a bad hit. While Wilson was unaware, Reaves lined up and delivered a blindside hit to the Caps forward. Wilson lost his helmet and hit his head on the ice.

Reaves was ejected. Wilson, presumably, is going through the concussion protocol. According to the Caps PR, Wilson will not return to the game due to an upper-body injury.

Reaves and Wilson had been going at each other all night long, and late in the second period, the rivalry turned dangerous.

After Wilson took a pass from Alex Ovechkin and bumped the puck to Madison Bowey, Reaves nailed Wilson in the shoulder with a blindside hit.

The hit caused Wilson’s helmet to pop off. The lower part of Wilson’s head slammed off the ice.

A woozy Wilson struggled to get up.

He needed help from his teammates to get to the bench before getting help from the team trainer to get into the locker room.

Reaves was given a five minute major for interference and a game misconduct.

Earlier in the first period, Reaves hit Wilson twice in eight seconds.

Reaves laughed at the Capitals forward as he laid on the ice after the second hit.

Reaves scored Vegas’s first goal of the night, a power-play goal in the first period.
