There’s a new top four in the USA TODAY Sports college football re-rank following Ohio State’s 62-39 win against rival Michigan, but it doesn’t include the Buckeyes.
The Wolverines are instead replaced by Georgia, which slides up one spot No. 4 after cruising past Georgia Tech. The top three of Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame remains the same, setting up a potential winner-take-all SEC championship game on Saturday between the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide.
Ohio State stepped up to No. 7, one spot ahead of Michigan, and will contend for a top-four finish by beating Northwestern to claim the Big Ten title. For now, the Buckeyes are behind No. 5 Oklahoma and No. 6 Central Florida — the Knights will look to continue the nation's longest active winning streak without quarterback McKenzie Milton, who was injured in a win against South Florida.
There are two new entries into the top 10. The first is No. 9 Boise State, which in the past month has added wins against No. 14 Fresno State and No. 19 Utah State. Washington comes in at No. 10 after another rivalry win against No. 12 Washington State.
And with the regular season complete, it's time to reward the nation's worst team. That would be No. 130 Connecticut, which went 1-11 and put forth one of the worst defenses in the history of college football. But it's OK: They've only been playing the sport for 149 years.
New to the top 25: No. 23 Buffalo, No. 24 Appalachian State, No. 25 Texas A&M.
Out of the top 25: No. 26 Iowa State, No. 35 Troy, No. 37 Pittsburgh.
