WATCH: What we learned from Yankees' crushing ALDS loss to Red Sox

NEW YORK -- Watch Yankees beat reporters Brendan Kuty and Randy Miller talk what they learned from the 2018 season and the team's crushing ALDS loss in four games to the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018.

Sabathia rips "terrible" umpire

Some notes from the media relations department ...

The Yankees were eliminated in the 2018 ALDS by Boston, 3-games-to-1...fell to 2-2 in postseason series vs. Boston, the only AL East team to ever eliminate the Yankees...lost two of the three ALDS games by one-run margins...are 12-8 in 20 ALDS all-time.

  • Lost two straight postseason home games after winning seven straight...lost consecutive home games only five times in the regular season...in the regular season, were 18-5 (.783) at home when losing at home in their previous game. Their 3R were their most in a game in which they were eliminated since a 6-4 loss in 2007 ALDS Game 4 vs. Cleveland.

Yankees batters were held homerless in both Games 3-4...were held to 0HR in consecutive home games just once during the regular season (4/7-8 vs. Baltimore)...scored their 4R in Games 3-4 on two sacrifice flies, a fielder's choice and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch...from Sanchez's HR in the seventh inning in Game 2 until Gregorius' double in the fourth tonight, went 6-for-48 (all singles) with 4BB and 1SF...did not have a base runner from Torres' single with one out in the fifth inning until Judge's leadoff walk in the ninth (were retired in 14 straight plate appearances).

  • Hit .154 (4-for-26) with 1XBH (HR) with RISP in the series.
  • Did not draw a walk until Judge led off the ninth with a walk against Kimbrel...drew just 3BB in Games 3-4. Lost their final seven consecutive home games when not hitting a HR (since 6/30), and were 4-9 in such home games in 2018.
  • Had 10 of the game's 15 hardest-hit balls...26-of-29 batters put the ball in play in the first eight innings (3K), just 3-of-7 in the ninth (2BB, 1K, 1HP).
