9:17 p.m.: Sidney Jones (hamstring) has been ruled out for the game after getting hurt on a punt early in the second quarter. The Eagles have Rasul Douglas playing safety and have moved Avonte Maddox to Jones’ nickel corner spot.
9:05 p.m.: After one quarter, the Eagles look good.
Carson Wentz’s first quarter stats: 7/10, 84 yards, 1 TD, rating of 128.8. That’s a good start for No. 11.
Eagles 14, Giants 3
8:58 p.m.: After getting great field position after a defensive stop, the Eagles marched down the field to score another touchdown. Alshon Jeffery caught a 17-yarder on the drive. Corey Clement, in his first game back from a quad injury, had tough 14-yard run and then punched in a 1-yard touchdown.
On the defensive stop, Michael Bennett absolutely blew past Nate Solder to get a strip sack on the 1-yard line. When he came to Philly, he put NFC East quarterbacks on notice. He got a sack in his first division game.
Then DeAndre Carter had a nice 23-yard punt return to get great field position.
Eagles 14, Giants 3
8:38 p.m.: The Giants got on the board with a field goal, but at least the Eagles’ defense was able to hold once they got in the red zone. The big play on the drive was a 46-yard run from Saquon Barkely. It’s the longest run against the Eagles this year, breaking the previous high of 33 from Andrew Luck. Still early in this one.
Eagles 7, Giants 3
8:29 p.m.: The Eagles got the ball in the red zone thanks to a interception from Kamu Grugier-Hill on a ball tipped by Jordan Hicks. It was KGH’s first-career INT.
The Eagles got a touchdown on 3rd-and-7, when Carson Wentz made a great play. He avoided pressure from his left from Olivier Vernon and rolled right. He kept his eyes downfield and threw across his body, between defenders, to Alshon Jeffery in the back of the end zone.

This is probably the best play we’ve seen from Wentz so far this season. Only elite quarterbacks do that.
It’s still early (13:15 left in the first quarter) but great start for No. 11 and the offense.
Eagles 7, Giants 0
8:02 p.m.: Halapoulivaati Vaitai better be ready to go. Because even though Lane Johnson is playing through a high ankle sprain, it’s pretty clear he isn’t 100 percent. He was downgraded to questionable on Thursday morning and then needed to test out his ankle on the field.
And then there’s this text message he sent to Jay Glazer.
Got a text from Lane Johnson, who the team didn’t think would go tonight, that he’s in pain and ankle is stiff but he’s playing “division game, team needs me, gonna give it a go.”

If Johnson has to leave the game, Big V would take over, but then it’s worth wondering if Jason Peters is going to last. Peters has been dealing with a quad injury, so it seems possible both tackles might not finish this game.
7:37 p.m.: The Eagles are on the field for warmups.
And it is still absolutely pouring here in North Jersey. It doesn’t look like this rain is going to let up anytime soon.

6:53 p.m.: Lane Johnson (ankle) is active after being downgraded to questionable earlier in the day. That’s good news for the Eagles.

Haloti Ngata (calf)
Nate Gerry (ankle, knee)
Corey Graham (hamstring)
D.J. Alexander (quad)
Jordan Mailata
Matt Pryor
6:31 p.m.: Inactives don’t come out for another 20 minutes, but this is probably a good sign from Lane Johnson, who has an ankle injury. He worked out on the field in game pants and then did this for John Clark.

6:10 p.m.: The rain has slowed (for now) and the tarp is coming off the field.
I’d imagine Carson Wentz is acting like a caged tiger in the locker room right now. Normally, he’d already been on the field well into his lengthy pregame routine.

5:12 p.m.: After a 1 1/2 hour drive up the beautiful New Jersey Turnpike, I have arrived at MetLife Stadium. It's raining up here in East Rutherford and it doesn't look like it's going to let up anytime soon.
The forecast still has plenty of rain and thunderstorms through the rest of the night. Pretty soggy conditions for a football game. The weather seems like it will definitely play a role.

12:52 p.m.: This is such a long day before the game finally comes. Maybe take a look at these five matchups to watch tonight to kill some time.
10:56 a.m.: It's reportedly a high ankle sprain for Lane Johnson, which is tricky. He had just a few days to recover from Sunday's game. These Thursday Night Football games are absolutely brutal for players. Humans weren’t made to play two football games within five days. I wouldn’t be surprised if Johnson sits for tonight’s game; maybe that’s wise.
But if Johnson’s out, it could cause a domino effect. Big V will play right tackle, but Jason Peters (quad) is banged up too. So if he leaves the game, what do they do? Some folks are calling for Jordan Mailata, but I don’t think he’s ready. I think the Eagles would probably pop Isaac Seumalo out to tackle and get Stefen Wisniewski back into the game at left guard. If they can make that switch between drives, I’d put Big V at left tackle, Seumalo at right and Wiz at left guard and try to get through the game. It’s a scary thought, though.
9:33 a.m.: If you’re heading to MetLife Stadium for the game, make sure you bring some rain gear with you. It's basically raining all day in East Rutherford. Between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., there's a 70 percent chance of precipitation and thunderstorms. Hopefully, there won't be any delays.
Maybe the rain won’t hurt the Eagles too much. They won the Colts game after playing most of it in the rain.
9:02 a.m.: Good morning, everyone. Big game tonight in North Jersey. It’s the first division game for the Eagles in the very winnable NFC East.
Some troubling news this morning, though. Lane Johnson (ankle) has been downgraded to questionable for the game. If he can’t play, expect Halapoulivaati Vaitai to start. But if Jason Peters can’t play the whole game, the line is going to be all messed up.
