What we know so far about the 'targeted' home invasion at LeSean McCoy's house

Police in Georgia are investigating a “targeted” home invasion and assault that took place Tuesday morning at a house owned by Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy. Two women in the home were attacked, including Delicia Cordon, McCoy’s former girlfriend who was staying there.

No suspects in the home invasion have been named. McCoy was accused by two people on social media claiming to be friends with the victim as being responsible for the attack, but he denied those allegations in a statement released via his own social media accounts. McCoy was in Miami at the time of the home invasion and said he has not had direct contact with the victim in months.

The Bills and the NFL are both aware of the situation and looking into the matter, according to statements made by the team and the league on Tuesday.

A “targeted” home invasion

Police in Milton, Ga., are calling it a “targeted” home invasion. In a statement issued Tuesday afternoon, the City of Milton Police Department described responding to an incident overnight and finding two female victims who had been assaulted by a lone intruder.

Cordon was taken to the hospital for treatment for injuries to her face and wrist, and was later released. The second victim sustained a minor injury, according to police.

Neither McCoy nor the victim were specifically mentioned by police in the official statement.

Here’s the full statement from authorities:

On July 10, 2018 at approximately 3:18 A.M., Milton Police responded to a home invasion at a residence on Hickory Pass near the Cherokee County line. The preliminary investigation indicates that this residence was specifically targeted by the suspect or suspects, and not a random incident. When officers arrived they found one victim who had been physically assaulted by a lone intruder. During the altercation, the suspect demanded specific items from the victim. An adult female victim was treated and released at North Fulton Regional Hospital. A second adult female victim also sustained a minor injury during the incident.

The home is technically owned by LKM Trust Agreement — LKM are McCoy’s initials — which is listed with a Buffalo, NY, address.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, McCoy filed for a court order in June to have his ex-girlfriend, evicted from the house. McCoy’s attorney told WSBTV that she would not leave the home. The two were scheduled to appear in court Tuesday for an eviction hearing.

The victim claims in those court documents that McCoy sent people to the house last month to remove furniture and other items while she was not there.

Cordon’s lawyers issued a statement Tuesday night. That statement claims that the house was broken into by a male assailant who assaulted her and asked for specific items -- such as jewelry and money -- that were previously requested by McCoy. According to that statement, the man hit Cordon in the head with a gun and bruised her wrist trying to remove a bracelet.

The statement from Cordon’s attorneys also lays out history between the victim and McCoy, which includes an alleged wrongful eviction, and claims that McCoy changed the security system in the home where the incident happened without giving the victim access to disarm or arm the alarm system.

Domestic violence allegations

The story first surfaced when a person claiming to be a friend of the victim made an Instagram post of a before and after photo showing cuts and bruises on the victim next to a photo of her said to be from the day prior to the attack. The post also included a caption that listed additional accusations, including domestic abuse, child abuse, animal abuse, and steroid and drug use.

The post was later removed from Instagram. A second post to the same account said the initial post was removed at the request of Cordon’s attorney.

The now-deleted post included a caption that read:

@shadymccoy is THE DEVIL!!! YOU ARE AN ANIMAL!!!!!! We didn’t say anything about how you beat your dog “Henny” into kidney failure. Let’s not talk about all the times my best friend had to stop you from VICIOUSLY beating your son for small things like peeing in the bed. We kept quiet about your drug usage ... all the ILLEGAL steroids and needles you were using, but we will not keep quiet about this!!!!!! I can’t believe you did this to my best friend!!!!! YOUR KARMA IS GOING TO BE SO REAL!!!!!! The world needs to know what type of animal you really are!!!!!!! In the comments on the post, the woman said that a police report had already been filed by the victim.

Another social media post from a different woman also claiming to be a friend of Cordon, with the same graphic photo from the Instagram post, claimed that “dudes” were sent to “pistol whip and rob” her in her Georgia home, which is owned by McCoy.

McCoy denied the allegations in a statement posted to Instagram and Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, calling them “completely false.”

“For the record, the totally baseless and offensive claims made against me today on social media are completely false. Further more, I have not had any direct contact with any of the people involved in months.”

What’s next?

Authorities are still investigating the attack and home invastion in Georgia.

The Bills and the NFL are both investigating the incident and allegations.

“We have spoken to LeSean and have been in contact with the National Football League,” the Bills said in a statement Tuesday. “We will continue to gather information.”

The NFL mandates a six-game suspension for any player who violates the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy regarding assault, battery, or domestic violence. A longer punishment may be applied “when circumstances warrant.”

McCoy, 29, has never been suspended in his NFL career but was accused in 2016 of being involved in a bar fight that ended with two off-duty police officers hospitalized. No criminal charges were filed against McCoy due to “insufficient evidence” and the NFL opted not to punish the running back.

In 2013, a woman sued McCoy for assault, alleging he or his bodyguard struck her and shoved her off a party bus in New Jersey. McCoy was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles at the time and wasn’t suspended for the incident.
