As if UFC 223 wasn’t crazy enough over the past few days, it kicked into overdrive on Thursday with the arrival of Conor McGregor. The current and soon-to-be stripped lightweight champion caused complete havoc following the media day session at Barclays Center, culminating in him and his entourage attacking a bus filled with several fighters who are competing on Saturday night’s card.
Multiple videos have surfaced showing guardrails and other objects being thrown at the bus, which reportedly included headliner Khabib Nurmagomedov.
This new clip also contains audio taken from inside the fighters’ bus as the attack is happening, and you can clearly hear concern for Michael Chiesa, who suffered facial cuts.
“Am I cut bad? I don’t want to touch my face,” Chiesa said.
In the aftermath of this craziness, Chiesa’s coach Rick Little had this to say to MMAjunkie concerning the status of his fighter, who is slated to face Anthony Pettis.
“Conor went bananas and put a beating on the van that we were in looking for Khabib,” Little said. “A million security guards had to restrain him. Mike’s cut up now. He’s got marks on him, for sure. I don’t think too serious. Everything happened so fast, it was just like we got jumped.”
Chiesa is currently in a local hospital, so his status for Saturday is unknown. UFC president Dana White just revealed that as a result of today’s actions, Artem Lobov has been pulled from his fight vs. Alex Caceres, as he was apparently a part of the altercation.
