Brazilian surfer breaks world record with 80-foot wave

A Brazilian surfer now holds the Guinness World Record for the biggest wave ever surfed.

The World Surf League announced on Saturday that a wave Rodrigo Koxa rode in Nazare, Portugal, in November of 2017, was 80 feet (24.38 meters).

Koxa shared photos on his Instagram from Saturday's Big Wave awards in California, calling it the best night of his life.

Koxa overtook the previous record of 78 feet (23.77 meters) set by Garrett McNamara in 2011.
