The Green Bay Packers are promoting director of player personnel Brian Gutekunst to the general manager position, a source confirmed to ESPN.
Gutekunst will receive a five-year contract.
Gutekunst, 44, was set to interview for the Texans' general manager vacancy on Sunday.
The Houston Chronicle first reported the news of the Packers' decision to hire Gutekunst as GM.
Gutekunst replaces longtime GM Ted Thompson, who was shifted into another front-office position with the team last week.
Thompson had been in charge of the Packers' football operation since 2005.
Gutekunst was promoted to director of player personnel in March 2016. He has been with the team almost 20 years, serving in a variety of scouting positions.
