On the day of Kobe Bryant's jersey retirement, Nike released three videos rehashing its old puppet campaign with him and LeBron James.
In "Burden," Bryant's puppet brags about having both No. 8 and No. 24 retired. After listing all of his accolades, he asks the Cleveland Cavaliers star to express gratitude for carrying such a heavy weight.
In "Uncle Charlie," he pondered the "mystery that has baffled basketball scholars for years": Which Bryant was better? James, perhaps realizing he's better than both, did not seem interested.
Puppet Bryant then explained the difference between the artsy No. 8 and entrepreneurial No. 24 in "Handicrafts."
Nike unveiled the puppet ad campaign in 2009, when Bryant boasted about his championships and tampered with James' game film. James has since procured three rings of his own, but Bryant upped his final tally to five before retiring in 2016.
