- So Tom Brady's trainer is Alex Guerrero. And they met years and years ago, and they've been inseparable. He studied medicine at the now-defunct Samara University.
It's no longer around, that university. Harvard lasts forever, so does Yale, Princeton, USC, Georgia-- you know, University of Georgia, those SEC schools. The university this guy went to, they closed the doors on it.
He has unconventional methods. A lot of the trainers-- doctors for the Patriots-- don't buy into Tommy's guru. There is some friction, according to our story this morning.
Friction is that Alex Guerrero doesn't play nice with others. You know what this is? This is a guy who gets some access, oversteps his access-- you know like life coaches?
And, finally, Steven Spielberg says enough. Get off the set. Belichick says enough. Get off the grounds.
This is Tom Brady being put in his place. This is not the guru being put in his place. This is Tom Brady being put in his place. And I'm team Belichick here. I'm team hoodie here.
Tom has gotten really, really into Tom lately-- kale pajamas, mattresses that make you sleep like a prince-- you know, a lot of Hollywood stuff, guru. Eat this, do that, sit up there, push up there. Nah. No, I want to go with New England's system, which won games when Tom was gone with Matt Cassel and with Jacoby Brissett.
And I like Brady. And he's the best quarterback I've ever seen. And I love his discipline.
But here's what all those mentors, and psychics, and gurus, here's what they do. They attach themselves to successful people, and they play to their vanity. They say things like Deepak Chopra said. You are the universe.
And Belichick, Chopra, says this. You are replaceable. And those two don't jibe.
You remember Deepak Chopra? He was a big deal in Hollywood. Happiness is the continuation of happenings that are not resistant.
Dude, get off the pipe. You're high. You're just rambling.
Grab some Doritos. Hit the couch. Watch Netflix. You're wearing everybody out.
You know these life coaches. They latch on to an actor, a Tom Cruise. And after about four or five movie, the life coach start thinking-- he starts thinking, man, I'm a real important guy here.
And the life coach goes, you know, Mr. Spielberg, you know, I've been looking at the script-- Tom's script and-- Mr. Cruise's script. I'd like to offer some suggestions. Nah, dude. You went to a university, Mr. Guerrero, that closed its doors-- guru, life coach, mentor, psychic.
Let me elevate you. Nah, get me a coffee. I'm not really interested in your mind games and playing to my vanity.
Here's what I know about the Patriots' system. They don't play to anybody's vanity. Here's what I know about the Patriots' system. There is no special treatment.
Here's what I know about the Patriots' system that's lasted for 15 years-- no access to outsiders. I'm team hoodie on this one, man. This is Belichick saying-- not to the guru. This is Belichick saying enough, Tom.
This is a system. We love you. You've been great, but it's the opposite.
OK, this is what the Lakers did with Kobe. They started playing to his vanity. You're the king.
Forget the young players around Kobe. Kobe, you're the man. We're playing to Kobe. It's all about Kobe. And it slowed down and stunted the growth of the Lakers for two years.
I mean, I don't know who Alex Guerrero is, but I've seen Alex Guerrero 1,000 times already in my two years in Los Angeles. There's a rich guy out there. It could be Brady. It could be Tommy Brady, Tommy Cruise. And there's a guru, and a mentor, and a psychic, and a life coach hovering around them, trying to steal paychecks, telling them they're the center of their universe and irreplaceable.
I'm sure this guy wanted to walk up-- probably didn't have the guts. But Alex Guerrero probably wanted to walk up to Belichick and say, you know, Tom's mercury has gone retrograde. His moons don't align today. His chakras are out of alignment.
He's a Leo. Mr. Belichick, Tom is a Leo. His chakras are-- he cannot practice on Thursdays.
And Belichick said get outta here. Get outta here. Don't give me this you are the universe. You are replaceable.
So I'm totally team hoodie on this stuff. And this is Belichick saying, I don't care if Robert Kraft loves Tommy. You heard of Deflategate. This is Deflategreat.
Tommy, I run this franchise. The system is more important than the star. I don't give a rip about your kale underwear. And that mattress is fine, but it doesn't make you sleep any better than the other mattress-- ridiculous. Here was Brady dodging the question about his guru, Alex Guerrero, on WEEI radio.
TOM BRADY: Alex has been, you know, well-documented a huge part of what I do. And I'm so fortunate to have him, not only as a friend, but everything that we've been able to do together. And Alex has been a huge, huge reason why I'm still playing.
PANELIST: Isn't that true, though? Can't you give him some credit for the fact he's 40 and still playing like he is?
- Maybe it's because Tom is driven and passionate? Did Tom really need a guy to tell him, hey, lay off the alcohol and eat really well?
PANELIST: No.
- Don't you think Brady's gotten a little-- I'm sorry, just because your qi is aligned, you're not playing till 40. You're playing till 40 because the Patriots have good offensive lines, and the best coach in football, and Gronk. And, by the way, he's married to a supermodel wife. I'm sure she has-- I'm sure nutritionally she's way above-- I mean, supermodels have to worry about what? Their appearance, their figure-- she probably eats great.
And, by the way, they're worth 500 million bucks. They probably have multiple nutritionists, like anybody with a net worth of 500 million bucks. I'm just not into this whole-- listen, I'm a small town kid.
When I came to LA, my friends are, like, dudes. They're, like, guys. They're, like, football coaches, and teachers, and dudes, and news reporters. I'm not into all this psychic stuff, mentors and Deepak.
This guy is Deepak Chopra with abs. I'm not into it at all. All right, team hoodie-- all right, so it's very funny.
So, last night-- I mean, it's the regular season. It doesn't mean much.
