UCLA alum Bill Walton was "sad, disappointed and embarrassed" when he heard LiAngelo Ball and two other Bruins basketball players were arrested during a trip to China for allegedly shoplifting luxury items.
Walton was doing commentary for the UCLA-Georgia Tech game on ESPN when he spoke about the situation and said he wanted to apologize "on behalf of the human race for this travesty."

“I am sad, disappointed and embarrassed. This is a very big deal,” Walton said. “The noble purpose here has been stained. Our host, Alibaba China, the people, they have been better than perfect in everything. They’ve done everything right to make this all work.
"Now members of our family have displayed an appalling lack of honor, a lack of respect, a lack of decency by doing something in someone else’s home that they would never do in their own. And I want to apologize right now on behalf of the human race for this travesty.”
Ball, along with UCLA freshmen Jalen Hill and Cody Riley, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly trying to steal sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store next to the team's hotel in Hangzhou.
They all posted bail and were sent back to the hotel. Reports say that the trio could remain in China for 20 days after the team flies back to Los Angeles as punishment.
